Boxing Rematch Between Former UFC Champions Claimed For ONE Title 169

Two former UFC Light Heavyweight Champions could face off in a boxing match at ONE Championship 169 in Atlanta, GA.

ONE Championship made its US debut last year with ONE Fight Night 10 in Broomfield, Colorado, and now the organization is scheduled to return to US soil with events in Denver and Atlanta in the second half of 2024.

ONE 169 (formerly ONE Fight Night 28) will feature ONE triple champion Anatoly Malykhin defending his heavyweight belt against Oumar “Reug Reug” Kane, who recently appeared at ONE Fight Night 28. The Joe Rogan Experience Former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Quinton “Rampage” Jackson has claimed that a boxing match with Rashad Evans is scheduled for the November 8th event.

“My first boxing match will be against Rashad. I need to get that win back,” Jackson explained Joe Rogan“They were talking in Atlanta… (Evans) said it would be under the ONE FC banner. That’s what he told me, I’m waiting for my agent to talk to him.”

One of the things that makes ONE Championship unique in the combat sports world is the variety of fights the organization hosts. MMA, kickboxing, submission grappling, and 4oz. Muay Thai are among the regulars featured on ONE cards, with the 2018 bout between Iran Diaz and Srisaket Sor Rungvisai marking the organization’s first boxing match in its history.

“Rampage” last competed in MMA in 2019, losing to PRIDE legend Fedor Emelianenko at Bellator 237. Jackson was previously expected to make his boxing debut against former WBO Heavyweight Champion Shannon “The Cannon” Briggs in June, but that bout was canceled.

Evans has been out of action since his only bout for Eagle FC in 2022, when he defeated Gabriel Checco, but if a boxing match is scheduled for ONE 169, it could give “Suga” a chance to move to 2-0 against Jackson since the two former light heavyweight champions clashed at UFC 144 in 2010.
