New Olympic sport 3×3 Basketball showcased in Zagreb

After the matches in Hvar and Umag PRO 3×3 Basketball Tour It’s coming to Zagreb for two days of competitive fun on July 12-13. Staged on Trg Kralja Tomislava, the square opposite the main train station, the event promises a high-quality display of one of the Olympics’ newest sports. 3×3 Basketball made its Olympic debut behind closed doors at Tokyo 2020 and will be seen by live crowds for the first time in Paris later this month.

3×3 Basketball is a variation of the classic game played with a single basket in a half-court setup. Matches last for a total of ten minutes or until one team scores 21 points. Each side consists of three players and a substitute, as the name suggests, and they have 12 seconds to attack in turn without a break after scoring.

On the first day – July 12 – group matches for the men’s competition will be held, with the winners of this category to be crowned on the second day, July 13. Saturday will also feature the women’s competition and Children’s Day.

The third edition of the PRO 3×3 Tour in Croatia and the most successful yet, draws the biggest and most enthusiastic crowds to date. The organisers, supported by the Croatian National Tourist Board, hope to entertain the audience as well as educate them about the fast-growing dynamic game by adding a real competitive element to the competition. The top teams on the tour will play the Grand Final in Šibenik in August, with the winner earning a place in the World Masters Tour event in Amsterdam this October.
