United States men’s soccer team roster for the 2024 Paris Olympics

An exciting U.S. men’s roster has been announced for the 2024 Paris Olympics, with three over-the-age players joining a bright crop of young players competing for medals in Paris.

Marko Mitrovic’s U-23 squad includes three over-age players, while he has added three Major League Soccer and USMNT veterans, including midfielder Djordje Mihailovic and defenders Walker Zimmerman and Miles Robinson.

The midfield duo is an exceptional choice in many ways for Mitrovic, who can rely on elite experience. Zimmerman and Robinson have 72 games combined. Mihailovic has 11.

The young side were ready to compete without experienced players and were talented from front to back. Chelsea goalkeeper Gaga Slonina will further polish her talents, while Venezia midfielders Gianluca Busio and Tanner Tessmann come together with Wolfsburg’s Kevin Paredes stealing the headlines from the experienced players.

Can the US men’s team win a medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics?

The U.S. men will need to pull off a major surprise or win a winning draw to have a shot at a medal in Paris.

France, Spain and Argentina are great teams and will be seen as strong favourites, while Japan and Morocco have strong squads.

Among France’s under-23 players are Crystal Palace’s Jean-Philippe Mateta and Alexandre Lacazette, while Michael Olise and Rayan Cherki are still under-23.

Argentina have brought in Julian Alvarez, former City player Nicolas Otamendi and Ajax goalkeeper Geronimo Rulli from Man City, while Claudio Echeverri and Lucas Beltran are from the Under-23s.

Other notable players include Guinean Naby Keita and Moroccans Achraf Hakimi and Munir Mohamedi.

The Yanks will likely be eight-ball behind after their opening match against hosts France but are expected to advance from Group A with wins over Guinea and New Zealand. The first or second-placed team from Group B (Argentina, Morocco, Iraq, Ukraine) is next. Winning that would put them in the running for gold or silver with one win and a shot at competing for bronze.
