UFC 302 saw a lightweight fight between Dustin Poirier and champion Islam Makhachev. Although Diamond had his moments, the Russian contender successfully retained his title by winning the fight via submission.

Lightweight contender Michael Chandler responds to tweets saying the division doesn’t want him to return. Iron says Dustin Poirier’s retirement from the sport is ‘good.’

Dustin Poirier responded to Chandler’s comments on the MMA Hour hosted by Ariel Helwani. “You’re not one of us,” Diamond said. He also brought up the fact that Michael Chandler hasn’t won a fight in a long time.

Poirier also believed Chandler didn’t have much of a draw in the UFC. Diamond also claimed Iron “did a good job of beating himself.” This led to Michael’s long-awaited fight against Conor McGregor. Since he refused to fight anyone but The Notorious, Dustin took the opportunity to rile up his former rival.

“I think he has the privilege of being Dana White,” Dustin Poirier said. The Lafayette native doesn’t believe his career would be in jeopardy without McGregor because he is so well-liked by the UFC president.

When asked about a potential rematch against Michael Chandler, Dustin Poirier declined, believing he had a fair and honest fight against Iron and didn’t feel the need to give him another shot at a potential victory.
