Why Jannik Sinner withdrew from Bastad – Tennis Tonic

World No. 1 Jannik Sinner has withdrawn from the Nordea Open in Bastad, Sweden. The 22-year-old Italian tennis star has decided to skip the ATP 250 clay-court event in Bastad after feeling unwell following his quarter-final defeat to Daniil Medvedev at Wimbledon. Sinner, who has an impressive 42-4 record this year, cited fatigue as his reason for withdrawal. Despite these setbacks, fans can look forward to seeing defending champion Andrey Rublev, former champion Casper Ruud and former No. 1 Rafael Nadal in action in Bastad from July 15-21.

This was Jannik’s message.

“I am saddened to have to withdraw from Bastad next week due to fatigue. It is not an easy decision as I really want to play, but it is best to take some time to rest and recover, as advised by my team and doctors. I hope to play at Bastad in the future, I hear it is a great tournament.”
