England face the West Indies at Lord’s in their first Test match of the summer, with all the talk ahead of the match centred on James Anderson’s final farewell match.

Anderson will be making his 188th and final Test appearance for England at the Home of Cricket and started the match with 700 wickets, just eight wickets fewer than Shane Warne and comfortably second on the list of all-time wicket-takers in the format.

While West Indies achieved a historic win over Australia, England have only won one Test match against India in the difficult subcontinent conditions, suffering a 4-1 defeat.

Ben Stokes and Brendon McCullum gave Gus Atkinson and Jamie Smith their first appearances, opting for youth over experience, while Anderson was also said goodbye.

England’s management has their eyes set on the Ashes match in 18 months’ time and they want to give their young fast bowlers as many chances as possible ahead of the series.
