NLer Trevor Murphy hired as Hockey Canada’s Vice President of Hockey Development

A Newfoundland native has been hired as Vice President of Development for Hockey Canada.

Hockey Canada hopes Trevor Murphy will spearhead a new strategic direction for grassroots hockey development across the country.

Murphy, who grew up in Mount Pearl, led the delivery of hockey development programs in Atlantic Canada for five years at Hockey Canada’s Regional Centre in Saint John, New Brunswick. He also worked in community and consumer partnerships for three seasons with the Edmonton Oilers.

He most recently served on the senior executive team of the 2025 Canada Games Host Community.

Murphy will begin his new role on July 15 and will be based in St. John’s.
