DA approved for Gungahlin Tennis Facility

Development Application for new Gungahlin Tennis Facility approved.

In this way, the sports venue is one step closer for tennis lovers.

Gungahlin Tennis Facility will be built off Horse Park Drive in Amaroo.

These will include:

  • 10 full size tennis courts
  • two hot shooting courts
  • crash wall
  • a pavilion
  • LED lighting
  • car park
  • landscape.

Gungahlin is one of the fastest growing areas in the country. Tennis is also a growing sport and the new venue will help attract more players.

Gungahlin Tennis Facility is being built by the ACT Government in partnership with Tennis Australia and Tennis ACT.

Tennis ACT CEO Mark La Brooy said: “Tennis ACT is looking forward to the construction phase of the Amaroo Tennis Centre and looking forward to it being a fantastic tennis facility for the Gungahlin community, the ACT and the region.”

“Following several years of planning, community consultation, Estate Development Planning and now approval of the development application, this delivers a vital piece of infrastructure that will bring tennis to one of the key growth corridors in the ACT.”

Gungahlin Tennis Facilities will offer a variety of programs for participants of all ages.

These will include:

  • Hot Shots Tennis and school programs
  • Make a Court Reservation
  • Cardio Tennis
  • Adult Social Tennis
  • Junior and Senior Canberra Tennis League
  • programs for all abilities.

Tennis Australia’s established tennis pathways will also assist the development of young players.

In addition to ensuring that more young people participate in sports, it will also support many young people in realizing their sports dreams.

The new facility will also have the capacity to host major tennis events, bringing more people to Canberra.
