Arshdeep Singh Receives Guard of Honour from Young Cricketers at Cricket Academy in Chandigarh After T20 WC 2024 Victory

Team India’s pacer Arshdeep Singh faced a guard of young and talented cricketers at a cricket academy in Chandigarh on Wednesday, July 10. Arshdeep was part of the Indian team that won the T20 World Cup 2024 by beating South Africa in the final.

The 25-year-old played a key role for the Men in Blue throughout the tournament. In the final title clash, Arshdeep Singh took two wickets while giving away 20 runs in his full quota of four overs at an economy rate of 5. He took the crucial wickets of Quinton de Kock and Aiden Markram in the final over.

After a grand celebration of the T20 World Cup 2024 victory in Mumbai, Arshdeep Singh returned to his hometown Chandigarh to a huge welcome from his family and fans at a personal victory parade organised for him on July 6.

In a video that has gone viral on social media, Arshdeep Singh is seen receiving a guard of honour from young cricketers before practice.

Arshdeep Singh became the joint-highest wicket-taker alongside Afghanistan pacer Fazalhaq Farooqi in the 2024 T20 World Cup, taking 17 wickets in 8 matches, including a 4-wicket haul, at an average of 12.64 and an economy rate of 7.16.

Arshdeep and Fazalhaq shared the record for taking most wickets in a single edition of the T20 World Cup, surpassing the previous record of 16 wickets taken by Sri Lankan captain Wanindu Hasaranga in the 2021 edition.
