Joe Rogan Believes Tyson Fury’s Controversial Victory Over Francis Ngannou Was a Fix

Nine months after former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou shocked the world by nearly beating Tyson Fury in the bout that kicked off his professional boxing career, Joe Rogan believes his split-decision defeat was a correction.

“I thought he (Francis Ngannou) won that fight” Rogan says on the Joe Rogan Experience podcast: “But, you know, they were booking that (Oleksandr) Usyk fight. They weren’t going to let it happen – yeah, it just looked like it was going to be okay.

“It was close enough, they could have done it and you’d say ‘OK, maybe, maybe (Fury) can win this’, but I didn’t think so, I thought Francis won, a lot of people thought Francis won.”

Still, Rogan thinks Ngannou taking the fight is a good idea, even if he’s been robbed of a chance to pull off what would go down in combat sports history as one of the biggest upsets.

“I’m happy he went and got paid, I’m happy he got paid for the Tyson Fury fight because not everyone cared about it, Dana (White) didn’t care and then he knocked Tyson Fury down and won the fight in the eyes of a lot of people.

“And then he gets a big payout against Joshua, I’m happy he got paid, but I wish he got paid in the UFC.”
