IU Health Momentum Indy gears up for 2024 two-day bike festival – Indianapolis News | Indiana Weather | Indiana Traffic

The IU Health Momentum Indy It is a two-day cycling festival that appeals to everyone.

Jennifer Cvar, founder and director of the event, joined us to talk about the details of the two main races and how to sign up for a community bike ride or kids’ race.

The festivities will kick off on Friday, July 12, from 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM with the Mass Ave Crit. This race is one of America’s premier events and a stop in the American Criterium Cup professional series.

On Saturday, July 13, at 9 a.m., the Honorable Major Taylor Fondo presented by VQ Labs and Zipp will take place. This ride is open to cyclists of all levels, with routes through Indianapolis and featuring locations related to Major Taylor.

Participants can choose from distances of 14 miles, 30 miles and 62 miles. Teams can compete for honors such as most miles driven as a team and most team members. The ride starts at 240 N. Meridian St. and invites everyone to ride at their own pace.

Later on Saturday, the Indy Crit and Kids Race presented by Riley Children’s Health will offer a family-friendly day of professional and amateur criterium racing.

The event will feature bikes and fitness activities for all ages, food trucks and refreshments. Races will run from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., with children’s activities scheduled from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Children ages 3-12 can participate in the Kids Race at 12:20 p.m.

The event will take place at University Park (307 N. Meridian St.) and promises a warm, family-friendly atmosphere.
