Lorenzo Musetti Triggers Coach Simone Tartarini’s Emotions With Unbelievable Wimbledon Heroics

“This is a dream come true”– said Lorenzo Musetti after reaching the quarterfinals. But what would happen after continuing his dream run to another stop, the semifinals? A few days ago, Musetti’s name was not on the minds of tennis fans who had reached the last 4 on the grass court. However, the surprise name of Wimbledon 2024 broke through Taylor Fritz’s wall to advance further in the tournament. And it was not only his dream that came true, but also his coach’s dream; he made this special request to celebrate the journey.

After the R4 win, Musetti choked up in his post-win interview. But his coach Simone Tartarini expected him to go one step further in the tournament. And when he was put to the test by Fritz in a five-set thriller, it was Tartarini’s turn to make his dream come true. The proud coach could not hold back his tears as he announced Musetti’s quarter-final victory, “A crazy dream.” That’s certainly true, as this will be the Italian’s first Grand Slam semi-final since turning professional in 2019.

Tartarini, who praised the tennis skills of the semi-finalists, said: ““He played incredible tennis because Fritz served so well and didn’t give up.” While many players calculate to take it one step at a time, Musetti took it to heart. His coach talked about strategies for taking on another big fish. “Lorenzo did what I asked” said. “He endured. It was an indescribable feeling. He made incredible variations.”

The protégé-coach duo are delighted to have reached the quarter-finals of a Grand Slam on their list and to be preparing for a new one. But not before celebrating this step forward by fulfilling Tartarini Musetti’s wish to eat homemade pasta in London! And the coach has already done it for his ward: “I go to Lorenzo’s and he wants me to come home and eat some plain ‘dry’ pasta. That’s good. My grandmother is the one who cooks.”

But that’s not the end, as Musetti is just starting to rise and has a tough road ahead of him. In the semi-finals, the grass-court master will face Novak Djokovic, who is looking to equal Roger Federer’s record of 8 Grand Slam wins on grass. But it seems that tennis fans in London have decided to support the Italian in the semi-finals.

Wimbledon fans rise to support Lorenzo Musetti in semi-final

Wimbledon has a new favourite to back against the Serbian ace in the SFs. The Italian hope is Musetti. The Italian’s aim this season has been to be a ‘good father’ to his newborn son. As life has progressed for the Italian, his tennis ambitions seem to have taken a backseat. However, when the time was right, Musetti returned to the track with full force to reach his first Grand Slam semi-final.

In the Italian coach’s interview after the victory on the court, when he said Djokovic, there was a collective response from the tennis fans sitting in the stands: “Uuuuuu!” While it may come as a shock to some, the Italian will face Djoker for the third time this year and again in a Grand Slam match, and the support of the crowd will be a relief.

After winning game point, the Italian smiled in disbelief as he finished the fifth set against the American, then looked up hopefully at the sky. Would it be third time lucky against the Serbian ace, who had a 5-1 record?
