Sourav Ganguly revives Indian motorsport with Kolkata Royal Tigers

Swapping his cricket bat for a steering wheel, cricket legend Sourav Ganguly has acquired the Kolkata Royal Tigers Racing team for the upcoming 2024 India Racing Festival (IRF).

This strategic move is likely to bring a new wave of excitement to India’s burgeoning motorsports scene.

Ganguly’s immense popularity and proven leadership ability are expected to expand the sport’s fan base significantly.

RPPL Chairman and Managing Director Akhilesh Reddy said, He expressed his excitement for the partnership with the following words: “We are thrilled to announce Sourav Ganguly as the owner of the Kolkata franchise. Organized by Racing Promotions Pvt. Ltd., the Indian Racing Festival features the high-octane Indian Racing League (IRL) and Formula 4 Indian Championship (F4IC). With eight city-based teams competing from August to November, the festival promises thrilling action and intense competition. Now in its third season, the IRF is fast establishing itself as India’s premier motorsport event.
