Football Fans Brawl With Uruguayan Players in Post-Match Brawl During Copa America Match

Brawls in the stands remain soccer’s greatest gift to the American sports audience, and the Copa América semifinal in Charlotte presented viewers with a jewel of a brawl.

The Copa América tournament continues with Colombia facing Uruguay in the semifinals at the Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte.

Beer, fists and trash were thrown in a brawl that broke out after what was supposed to be a very entertaining match on a Wednesday night.

Colombia midfielder Jefferson Lerma scored the opener in the 38th minute as Los Cafeteros cruised to a 1-0 victory. Colombia will advance to the Copa América final this Sunday, where they will face Lionel Messi’s Argentina side.

Uruguay suffered a heartbreaking defeat and had to hear about it from the Colombian fans.

Eventually, Colombian fans in Charlotte tried to pull the losing team’s players into the stands, which led to Uruguayan Darwin Núñez being punched in the face.

Núñez sparked a huge argument between players after shouting at a Colombian fan, which led to the crowd increasing in size trying to break up the fight.

A fight broke out between fans a few rows back, with two men seen throwing punches at each other.

The match descended into complete chaos and it looks like the Uruguayan players will be given serious disciplinary action.

Fans who captured the footage, which went viral on social media, dubbed the scene “Malice at the Palace II.” Take international football, put it in the U.S. for American crowds to consume, and you have the ingredients for a big fight.

God Bless America
